Little Panthers Program

Nourishment. Hands-on learning. Communal care.

Pilot Project 2024

The Little Panthers Program was inspired by the Black Panthers’ Breakfast Program, which recognized the deep connection between racism and food insecurity. Similarly, we see the intertwined struggles of land access, food apartheid, and systemic racism. Our journey began with a two-week breakfast program for Black youth in the NDG area, made possible through partnerships with Concordia groups and food donations from Moisson Montreal. The overwhelming community support—highlighted by a $2,000 donation from someone who had faced lifelong food insecurity—affirmed the urgent need for such initiatives.

2025 Young Adult Edition: Rad Roots Coming Soon!

This year, we’re expanding our focus to young adults by integrating a farming component. While nourishing youth remains central, we also aim to educate about food systems from farm to table. Partnering with after-summer camp programs, our Youth Panthers initiative Rad Roots will launch in July, offering kids aged 12-18 hands-on farming experiences at our Loyola plot. Sessions will run weekly on Mondays from 4 to 6 PM, blending nourishment with practical agricultural education.
